Paleo Diet Guidelines

Paleo Diet Guidelines

Many people when beginning any diet or diet change, look for a set of guidelines. The guidelines for the Paleo diet are rather broad in comparison to other diets. This is due to the fact that the Paleo diet is more flexible than other diet systems. There is more wiggle room.
Of course if you want to be 100% Paleo, you would be following the Paleo diet guidelines set by pioneers in Paleo such as Robb Wolf and  Dr. Loren Cordain who is considered the father of the Paleo movement. However, many people want to work Paleo into their modern day lifestyle and this is totally possible if you are willing to overlook specifics and technical debates.
The Paleo diet is the diet based upon our ancestors in the Paleolithic period. A period prior to agriculture. In a broad sense this means your diet will be comprised of meats, seafood, vegetables and fruits. You will be avoiding grains, sugars and processed foods.
In a sense this may be all the Paleo Diet guidelines you need to enjoy the benefits. Everything else pretty much happens naturally. Of course it is a good idea to work in a exercise regime to work with your new diet. Certainly our ancestors were required to be very active.
Most people think of the Paleo diet as a diet of primarily meat. This is not the case. In fact, your diet will be primarily vegetables. The great thing about vegetables is that you can eat as much as you want, get tons of beneficial nutrients, and lets face it , they taste great. In addition to these vegetables you will be eating a good portion of delicious meats. This leaves the problems of dairy. A Paleo food list will help with your shopping and Paleo meal plans.
Many Paleo enthusiasts omit dairy. It is probably a fact that the only milk we are made to drink is mothers milk, and that only in our infancy. Many people have problems with dairy, lactose, so if you are trying to improve your health, you may wish to omit dairy in your Paleo diet. If you dont have any inflammatory problems with dairy, you may wish to include some of it in your diet. This is an example of what I meant by the flexibility of Paleo. In a way, Paleo diet guidelines are up to you.
Will I lose weight on the Paleo Diet ?
The advantages of the Paleo diet are impressive. By avoiding carbs, processed foods, and too much sugars, you will most likely begin to lose body fat. You will also be avoiding blood sugar spikes that could lead to diabetes or other blood sugar conditions.
The second big advantage to Paleo is the reduction or elimination of inflammation in the body. Many of these conditions are caused or made worse by grains and chemical food additives. People report relief from conditions such as acne, asthma, hay fever, colitis and many more.
The great thing about Paleo is that you can eat well. You can eat many meals a day and enjoy many traditional favorite meals. This is by no means a starvation diet.  You can begin Paleo on your own, but if you are looking for Paleo diet guidelines, it helps to have a food list, recipes and instructions. Paleohacks Paleo Cookbook is an excellent way to begin your Paleo diet lifestyle.
